Description
Class Experience
Many times kids things that poetry is boring, but it doesn't have to be. Learners will have fun with poetry in this class. The learners will read excerpts from Shel Silverstein, Dr. Seuss and more as a class. The teacher will point out how the poems use alliteration, repetition, imagery and rhyme. Then students will write a poem of their own using one or more of these tools. Students will be given prompts or come up with an idea for a poem on their own. If there is time, the kids can...
Students will learn about some poetry tools such as alliteration, rhyme, imagery and repetition Students will learn about non-traditional poetry. Students will practice reading and writing skills.
B.A. in Creative Writing M.Ed in Elementary Education former English teacher
This is a one-time class so does not have homework.
Paper, marker, pencil.
The learner is assessed informally by their participation and effort.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
