This online, 8-week creative writing course is aimed at both reluctant and inspired writers.  Students will each adopt a toy or animated “pet” and use their imagination to explore the creature’s traits, personality, and skills.  As students conduct interviews, write letters, and compose essays about their quirky little animals they will absorb skills in the six traits of writing (ideas, organization, voice, sentence fluency, word choice, & conventions) without even realizing it!  Students interact with other students and the teacher via weekly discussion forums & activities.  Students will post weekly writing assignments that the teacher will review with comments and suggestions each week. 

Students have one week to complete the weekly lesson activities.  This class runs “asynchronously” (participants to do not need to be online at a specific time each week); however it is not self-paced. Assignments are due every Sunday night.

Note: This course is not taught on the Outschool website.  Instead, it is taught asynchronously on the Woodside LC Moodle course page.  Students will need an email address to register and login to the Moodle course. If parents prefer to avoid using personal email addresses, please let me know.
