In this course students will explore rhyming mechanics through the creation of their own rap song. Students will learn about bars and various types of rhyme patterns including leading/ ending rhyme, internal rhyme, near/ perfect rhyme, multisyllabic rhyme, and assonance. A definition of each literary element will be provided with examples. At the beginning of class students will brainstorm a topic that they would like to write a song about. 1 hour 15 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
We are going to use a site called Wordhippo in order to help us find rhymes. Wordhippo is a dictionary/thesaurus site which has a tab for rhyming words. The tool is free to use and does not require an account to setup.
