Description
Class Experience
Students will be introduced to important examples of Creative Nonfiction writing, the relevant terms and ideas connected to the genre, and practice their own creative nonfiction writing within the frameworks of the four covered genres.
Students will be assigned readings with questions, via the Actively Learn platform, each week after the initial class. Readings and related questions should take 1-3 hours, depending on individual reading speed and essay lengths. Creative writing assignments are optional and students are welcome to complete them privately, share them with me individually, or share them with the entire class!
We will be using the online platform www.activelylearn.com for all readings and reading assessments. Please create a free account before the first class to expedite enrollment.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Student responses within Actively Learn will be provided with in-platform rubric assessments and limited written feedback within the platform. Student answers/responses are visible to other students as well as the teacher. Students may request written or verbal feedback on their own creative writing pieces written for this course.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
