Do you have a writer who loves video games and Roblox? This course will focus on Roblox while we learn all about creative writing skills! Learners will practice prewriting, focus, elaboration, and revision skills!

In this course we will use Roblox as a way to hone our creative writing skills. We will create a character and setting, and explore how we use that character to advance a plot and develop a theme. I will teach a 'mini-lesson' and then allow students to practice that skill in the class. Week one will focus on character and setting, week two on plot, week three on writing introductions, and week four on writing conclusions. We will cover the following topics: Meeting 1- Roblox Roll- A- Story and Choose Your Character: When we play Minecraft we take special care to pick out the perfect skin, and creating a character is no different! Meeting 2- Climb Plot Mountain: We should write with the ending in mind, and one way to do that is to outline our plot. What successes and failures will your character experience? What lesson will they learn? Meeting 3- Writing Day- Focus on Introduction Meeting 4- Writing Day- Focus on Conclusions
Learning Goals
Students will learn pre-writing skills such as character development, story organization, setting, theme, and plot development. They will learn how to hook the reader, focus and elaborate on elements that advance the story, and conclude in a way that satisfies the reader. They will also learn some revision techniques and how to peer edit.

Parental Guidance
This class relies on Roblox, and Roblox does include cartoon violence. Incorporating these elements into a story to advance the plot is something I will accept, however I will not allow using these elements just for the sake of using them. I will also ask students who incorporate sensitive elements to give a content warning before sharing, or ask that they only share with me. Any content that is concerning will be passed on to the adult who enrolled the learner.
Supply List
Learners will need paper and a writing utensil for every lesson and a set of dice for the first lesson. I will provide all handouts.
