Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 5
What is the best gift you’ve ever received? If you could have any animal as a pet, what would it be? What superpower would be the most useful?

In this SELF-PACED (flex) (no live meetings) course, students will practice their writing skills by learning the writing process, understanding basic writing format (introduction, main body, and conclusion), and editing their work.

Each week, I will post a mini-lesson video (each about 10 minutes) about how to use the basic writing format of introduction, main body, and conclusion. I will post a brainstorm question to prompt students to think about the topic of the week. Students will write a rough draft (either written or typed) of their response to the writing prompt. Students can share this writing publicly in the classroom or privately through a message.

I will provide up to 2 customized, video feedback edits of their written work. My feedback will include comments about grammar, punctuation, and clarity in writing. I will focus on helping students convey the main ideas with clear sentences and help students fix grammar errors such as capitalization, comma usage, sentence fragments, and verb conjugation.

Weekly writing themes:
Week 1: Gifts
Week 2: Superpowers
Week 3: Animals
Week 4: Adventures
Learning Goals
Students will learn and practice the basic writing format while receiving editing and grammar advice from the teacher on each written work.

Hello! I'm Miss Jen. I teach classes about English grammar to help learners become amazing writers. Writing with proper grammar is crucial for many life skills.

Please send a message if you have any questions! I will respond to messages within 24 hours during the business week.

I have taught grammar classes on Outschool for more than three years. I love teaching students of many levels.

Before Outschool, I taught English online for four years, teaching over 3,000 classes. I have a degree in elementary and special education. I have adapted many lessons to fit the unique needs of my students. I tutored at a math and reading center for five years to students of a variety of ages. I currently homeschool my own children and facilitate a local forest school.

I believe that hands-on learning and interaction are paramount to a child's education. Learning should be fun and interesting! All children should find the love of learning with the help of an engaging and encouraging teacher.

When I'm not teaching, my favorite outdoor activity is rafting down our local river because we are always greeted by ducks, geese, and beautiful swans.
