Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
Students will understand the elements of and formatting for scripts and screenplays. Students will learn how to create an original screenplay or script of their own.
I have taught creative writing to students for many years in person and also on Outschool. As a classroom teacher, I designed an original Script Writing class that is the basis for this course.
Students will be encouraged to do some drafting outside of class. This will not be too time intensive unless the student wishes to invest extra time. The expectation is to have a five minute sharing of their start in our final class.
We will view clips from selected Disney and Pixar movies and follow along with each film's original screenplay, but learners will not be required to visit any external websites. None of these will exceed a rating of PG, content-wise. Learners can use a notebook for their writing if they do not have access to a Word processing program but being able to type is preferred for this form of writing.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Students are requested to use Google Docs or Microsoft Word to type up their scripts, but this is not required if a notebook is preferred. Students will view clips from selected Disney and Pixar films; these will not exceed a PG rating.
