Creative Writing: How to Make Your Short Story Interesting - A Technique Class

Creative writing is fun!  How can you make your short story really interesting to the reader?  In this class, we talk about some techniques to help accomplish that such as putting a question in the reader's mind, starting the story at a pivotal point, asking the question what if, painting a picture in the reader's mind, starting with an unusual situation, and creating an intriguing character.  We will talk about each method and then have an opportunity to practice it.  Note:  We are NOT writing a short story in class.  Rather, we are discussing methods to use when creating the short story that will make that story captivating.  If you learner wants to write a short story using one of these methods, they can send it to me in the classroom after the class is ended, and I will comment. In order for this class to be of the most benefit, your learner should be willing to interact and try the methods we discuss.  I teach in a relaxed manner.  Please bring paper and pencil to class.  I will teach to one learner.  Class Rules:  We mute so we do not talk over each other, we are kind and respectful to everyone, if we have a question or comment we raise our hand, and as per the Outschool rules, we turn our camera on at the beginning of class in order to verify the learner.
