Class Experience

The myths of Ancient Greece are some of the most famous in the world, being used as inspiration for countless movies, TV shows, books, and many other creative arts. When reading them, you may notice parallels to some of these things. In this ongoing class, students will be introduced to a different Greek myth each week. Students will learn 1 or 2 myths (depending on the length of the myth) each week via lecture and ways the myth has influenced modern society (if applicable) during the first 10-15 minutes of class. Students will then spend the remaining 25-30 minutes of class discussing how they would adapt the myth and characters into a modern reality TV show, and sharing their ideas with the class. This is a highly collaborative class, so students must be mature enough to respect other's ideas and opinions. Students do not need to have a high knowledge of reality TV, as long as they feel they could creatively create their own TV show.
