Creative Writing for Young Writers!
In this 4 day summer course, younger writers are given a prompt and create written works that they present on the final day. They are encouraged to use their imagination; while improving their written grammar and editing skills.

This is a class to improve creative writing, storytelling. The students will be able to select the topic of their story, which must be age-appropriate. On the first day, topics will be chosen and approved. From there, students will practice brainstorming, methods of story organization, and creating their story. I will model for them proofreading and peer editing. They will then be put into breakout rooms for peer review. The final draft will be made ready for the presentation. Illustrations are optional, and I will allow it if the student would like to show illustrations with the story. I use many methods to have my students understand and enjoy the writing process, including music and illustrations when effective. My classes are interactive. Your child will be interacting with me and other students. Students will need to know how to read and write to participate in this class.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their grammar, including descriptive writing skills. They will learn how to deal with writer's block and how to organize their thoughts. They will also learn how to effectively peer review.
