Assignments
Frequency: 1-2 per week
Feedback: as needed
Details: Writers will receive a prompt to work on each week in class. I will provide feedback and direction with this piece. Writers can choose to work on the piece at home, if they desire it. Some pieces will be worked on for multiple weeks. In some cases, there will be a new piece each week, depending on the writer and their goals.
Assessment
Frequency: available upon request
Details: If a parent or student desires, I will provide a written feedback assessment of their writing during the course and/or at the end of the course.
Students should have some experience in writing narratives or essays. They should have some knowledge of creative writing, so we can build off their current skills.
Learners will need something to write with, as they will take notes and write in class. They can use pens or pencils as writing utensils. They may bring notebooks or loose paper to class. A folder or binder is recommended to keep all materials together. If the student prefers a digital writing tool, they may use a stylus, tablet, laptop, or combination. Students may choose to bring headphones or music to use during writing portions, when the student and teacher's microphones are muted. Students may want access to a printer to print resources and access to a scanner to scan in writing pieces.
