In this student-centered class, learners will be inspired and encouraged to grow as creative writers. Each class will have a three-part structure. First, students will participate in exercises that get their creative thinking flowing. They will get new writing ideas and learn new tools for inspiring their creativity. Second, each class will include instruction and practice on one aspect of creative writing. Students will learn and be inspired through a variety of different...
Students will learn both the creative and the technical aspects of writing fiction from a published author.
Students will be encouraged to complete various creative writing assignments throughout the class, but no homework will be required.
Students should have writing materials with them for each class. Students should also have a spiral notebook for keeping new ideas and for idea generating activities.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Learners will receive peer and instructor feedback during class. Students may submit one piece of writing weekly for written instructor feedback.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
