35 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
Let’s have some creative Christmas fun! In this one time class, students will discuss the meaning of various story elements (character, setting, theme, conflict, plot, and point of view) and brainstorm ideas for each one. We will be using the story, “A Christmas Carol,” as an example. By the end of class, students will have a detailed outline to complete their own secular holiday stories. Students will be given the opportunity to publish their stories in the classroom to share with classmates. Basic writing skills, such as sentence structure and grammar, are required.
Learning Goals
Students will discuss the meaning of various story elements such as character, setting, theme, conflict, plot, and point of view. They will learn examples and see how to put them together in an interesting way to form a story.

The curriculum is my own. Some references will be made to the popular story, "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens, which is public domain.
