In this one-time class, students will write about and sketch their observations of nature and respond to a creative, nature-inspired writing prompt. After a brief introduction, students will complete a sensory writing activity. They will be asked to engage their five senses as they think about something they have noticed in nature/an outdoor space recently. During this warm-up activity, students will produce a short descriptive piece and an accompanying sketch of their observations in nature. Next, students will exercise their creative writing muscles by responding to a nature writing prompt. Students will have the option to add an illustration to their completed written work. The session will end with an opportunity for students to share their writing with others. This course is meant to provide curious young learners with an opportunity to think about the world around them, express their creativity and unique perspectives, and share their work with a community of fellow writers. Let's get writing!
