Class Experience
US Grade 8 - 9
This creative writing course is aimed at both reluctant and inspired writers. We will study traditional and modern fables, fantasies, fairytales, and other fun fiction. Then we will create some of our own as we learn the six traits of writing (ideas, organization, voice, sentence fluency, word choice, & conventions). Who knows what sort of creations we’ll come up with? Students interact with other students and the teacher via weekly discussion forums & activities. Students will post weekly writing assignments that the teacher will review with comment and suggestions each week. Online learners will engage in interactive online lessons and weekly assessments or assignments. Students have one week to complete the weekly lesson activities. This class runs “asynchronously” (participants to do not need to be online at a specific time each week); however it is not self-paced. Assignments are due every Sunday night.

Every student approaches education with different strengths and experiences. As a result, learning is an individual challenge for each of us. Our goal is to help students harness their strengths, push beyond their weaknesses, and learn that challenge is not a bad thing. Most of all, we want them to remember that learning can be fun!
