Practicing typing and computer skills can be fun, but a lot of online games aren't practical. In this 8 week course, students will put the skills they've learned in Level 1 and Level 2 to good use by creating their own short story! Over 8 weeks, we'll create a chapter book. Students will be given a story prompt to create their online book using Google Docs. They'll then learn how to enhance their work of fiction by using Google Slides. I loved writing growing up, but it wasn't until I found myself in college helping other creatives clarify their written works, that I realized just how important it was for writing to be fun. It is my goal to help every writer I work with amplify their voice through words, all while challenging themselves and creating strong writing habits. My passion for writing has taken shape in the form of guest blog posts, short plays, poems, song lyrics, and short stories.

This is a fiction class. Students are welcome to write about whatever interest them as long as it is not offensive (demonstrating hate or bias against others based off religion, gender, sexual orientation, race). Many kids like to create fictional worlds. These worlds may include death or violence. Death by a fire breathing dragon and death by a house set on fire by a mysterious villain both have a place in this class. It is important that any student participating understand that fiction does not necessarily reflect the beliefs or experiences of the author. Students must use an electronic device that offers both a camera and a microphone. Students are not required to have their camera on during the entire class. I respect that some students work best when they don't feel like they are being watched. By registering for this class each student understands that they must have their camera on at the start of class and during peer to peer discussion. Parents will be notified of disruptive behavior. If your family experience tech issues that prevent your child from completing a class or class assignment please notify me immediately so that we may find a solution that will allow your child to fully benefit from the class.
