This is an ongoing class that will meet once a week. In this course, students will be writing a story. Each week will have a different story theme. The classes in this course do not build on each other. Students may join any week to enjoy writing the story for that week. During each class, students will be presented with a variety of options for their story. Students will be choosing a character, setting, and problem for their story. They will fill out a graphic organizer on the parts of their story. Then, they will use their graphic organizer to write their story. Below is a breakdown of each class. Brainstorming: Students will be introduced to the story theme for the week. The students will be given different options for their characters, setting, and story problem. They will choose their characters, setting, and problem for their story. Students will brainstorm the solution for their story. Then, they will fill out a graphic organizer with the different story elements for their story. These elements will include the characters, setting, problem, and solution. Writing: Students will use their graphic organizer to create a story. I will provide students will an example to show them how to create their story. As they work, I will be checking in with each student. I will help students with details in their writing and with ideas for their writing. If there is extra time, students may draw a picture of their story. Sharing: Students will be given the opportunity to share their story with the class. The students are also welcome to send me a picture of their writing so I can read it. Students will be given the choice to create a story with their own ideas. They can also use some of my ideas. Learning Goals
The learning goal of this course is to give learners an opportunity to be creative in their writing. By the end of each class, students will have a complete story written.

Students will need the following materials for each class: - Graphic Organizer (This will be posted in our classroom before each class.) - Pencil - Notebook or Writing Paper - Crayons (These are optional.)

I received my BA in Elementary Education from Montana State University - Northern in 2009. For the past thirteen years, I have been teaching in an elementary school. I love teaching, and I love learning. I think every child deserves the best education. It is my goal to provide classes that will help your child be successful in their learning journey. My expertise includes movement, games, and fun as I teach specific content. Students learn best when they are directly involved in the learning. In my classes, your child will be learning content through hands-on activities. Teaching is one of my favorite things to do. Outside of teaching, I enjoy hiking, reading, cooking, and home decorating. I am looking forward to teaching your child.
