Class Experience
Are you ready for your learner to have fun with writing and learn at the same time? Come explore this weekly writing class as we make writing a positive experience! The course will run for a whole semester but you can join in any time and stay for as long as you'd like! I have worked on developing a course designed around picture prompts for creative writing after having such positive feedback on my other writing courses, Pencil Pack and Little Learners. Those classes help to encourage and...
Students will work on developing and strengthening their creative writing skills. Students will use oral language skills to communicate their writing to others. Students will monitor their writing for correct capitalization and punctuation. Students will practice active listening and will be encouraged to comment or respond to shared writing.
I am a Nationally Board-Certified Teacher and hold a Master’s Degree in Reading which challenges me to always deliver high quality and effective lessons. I have been teaching for over 16 years, which began in the classroom teaching 3rd grade. I then moved to 2nd before transitioning to the library. No matter if I am in the classroom or the library classroom, I strive to make literacy a positive experience for all learners. I love not only books, but writing as I work with students to take their ideas in their head and transport them onto paper. Additionally, as a mom to three children (ages 4, 7, and 9), I love making learning fun. Writing can often times be a struggle for children and my enthusiastic and patient personality helps students feel comfortable and engaged in the lessons. I truly love making all my classes fun, interactive, and exciting for all learners!
There will be no homework assigned for this course; however, I will provide an additional picture each week after class for families who would like their learner to continue working during the week.
Each learner will need paper or a notebook as well as something to write with during our class. Coloring supplies are optional.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
