US Grade 2 - 4
This four-week course is designed as a weekly summer writing club for students to write after being given a prompt. This allows creativity through writing, to let all students find a love for it. Each week, students will be writing fiction stories. Classes will begin by reading the prompt, discussing, and going into a 10-15 minute mini-lesson depending on what is needed to complete the prompt. For example, if the prompt has dialogue in it, and requires students to continue the conversation, I would do a 10-15 mini-lesson on dialogue and punctuation. After this mini-lesson, students will have 20-25 minutes to respond to the prompt. This allows the last 10-15 minutes of class to be sharing our stories. During our sharing, we will discuss characters, setting, and/or problems within the story. As students are responding to the prompt, they may mute and turn their cameras off to allow them to focus. I will be there for questions and to support students, when needed. Questions and sharing are encouraged! Below I have listed the prompt topics for each week, but not the actual prompts that will be given to students. I have also attached a file that have the prompt and lines on there. If you don't have a printer, NO PROBLEM! I will give students the prompt, in class, and students can respond on their own lined paper! First class topic- Writing a letter Second class topic- Five senses Third class topic- If I were a __________, I would... Fourth class topic- Dialogue
