Homework
1-2 hours per week. Students will receive a decent amount of homework due a few hours before the next class. The homework was created to reinforce what was learned during class and to apply old and new strategies for planning, editing, revising, and submitting final drafts. Homework will take approximately 1.5 hours, It really depends on whether students are doing their homework in parts, or sitting down and completing it in one sitting. All homework in this course will involve planning and writing. Videos will be up for review.Assessment
The learner will be assessed based on the work they turn in and feedback that is applied. Via the personal conference, the learner will have a chance to ask important questions and request clarification. The conferences will give the teacher an idea of how students are doing weekly.Class Experience
US Grade 9 - 12
In this class, the students will use pen and paper along with computers/Ipads. They will need to upload the powerpoint/pdfs required for the course. They will interact with the teacher via this platform through chat and can ask questions. The teacher will evaluate students on their work and give individualized feedback. The teacher will create activities, and group discussions in order to interact. Students will also be asked to share their work on the outschool platform. The teaching style includes inquiry-based learning where the teacher guides students by asking both direct and indirect questions. The themes that will be introduced and discussed each week will be posted every Monday. Each Student is expected to participate in the discussion a total of 4 times throughout the course. Themes/Topics: The topics in Creative writing and me are several: 1. Planning/Organizing your writing 2. 4 Square Planning Method 2. Strong Paragraphs 3. Essay Writing The weekly themes introduced will include a “Big Question” to focus on throughout the actual assignment. ALL parts are due each week. Homework is expected to be handed in within 5 hours of the next class time. The teacher needs enough time to go over each assignment turned in. Conference time will be held weekly to discuss questions etc. All work needs to be submitted through the outschool interface. Any and all questions can be asked on the outschool interface. Week 3: Big Question: WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO MAKE A STRONG PARAGRAPH? Week 4: Big Question: WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO PROOFREAD, EDIT, AND SUBMIT YOUR FINAL DRAFT OF YOUR WRITING?

Supply List
During class, students will use a computer, pencil/pen and paper. They may use their computer to type. Students will be provided with handouts that will also be uploaded the week of class.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
Writing is an essential tool and is used in every language and every culture. Having written and published several books, I’ve had to go through the writing process. As each book was completed, I found ways to improve my planning and writing. Teaching students how to plan, proofread, revise, edit and turn in final drafts will create effective and confident writers.
