In this one-time course, aspiring writers will learn about the character archetypes and use those elements to create an original character of their own.
Class experience
In this interactive class, students will be introduced to the different character archetypes and the varying roles these archetypes play in a story. By the end of the class, students will possess the foundational skills needed to create original characters of their own. The lesson will be taught via a slideshow and will include lecture, discussions, and student lead activities. Students will develop an understanding of character archetypes and how these archetypes contribute to a narrative. After this class, students will have the foundational knowledge they need to start developing original characters of their own.
1 file available upon enrollmentStudents will be provided with a one-page handout at the start of class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher will be referencing examples of characters from "The Hunger Games," "Harry Potter," "Star Wars," "The Wizard of Oz," and the Marvel films.
