In this ongoing creative writing class, learners will receive 1:1 tutoring to help them make progress with their self-selected projects. Such projects could include poems, stories, or novels. Each session will start with the learner and teacher discussing progress on the project, trouble areas (i.e. writer's block), and a goal for the session. I have a Master's of Fine Arts in Creative Writing and have taught high school English for over 8 years. I've worked as a writing tutor for nearly 15 years.
Students likely will want to work on their writing outside of class; however, while this is encouraged, it is not required.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Students will select their project(s). If I have a concern about the writing, I will address it with the learner and/or parent, whichever is most appropriate for the situation. If parents have specific topics they do not want their learner to choose to write about, they need to communicate that with the teacher and their learner, please.
