Class Experience

US Grade 8 - 11
In this ONGOING class learners will meet weekly to talk about writing. Classes will be learner led and directed as time allows learners can ask questions about writing, bounce ideas off other learners, and share parts of current projects. The teacher will facilitate the discussion while also give advice where needed, writing tips, and writing prompts at the end of each class as optional homework.

The purpose of this class is for young writers to meet other writers their own age, be inspired by them and to get new ideas and feedback that they can use in their own writing. No supplies are need, but learners are encouraged to bring a notebook to take notes, and possibly write briefly during class. Learners are encouraged to write during the week and bring what they have written to share with the class each week. All genres and styles of writing are welcome and encouraged.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a former Home School student who has never stopped learning! I love history and telling stories verbally and through writing, and I want to share that passion with others. I believe the statement is true: “Those who don’t learn from History are doomed to repeat it.” We need to learn from the past to shape our own futures and the world in general. I believe the best way to learn about history is to learn about the people who lived through it and what they experienced and tell their stories. I love telling stories through writing and enjoy public speaking, so storytelling is a natural combination of the two.

I have 4 years of teaching experience in a variety of places from teaching/coaching drama and dance for homeschoolers in a group setting, to homeschooling two young children for a few months, to teaching English as Second Language (ESL) to college students, to teaching Arts and Crafts at a Summer Camp. I am currently a ESL teacher online with VIPKid. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Communication from Stevenson University.

I love to travel both in the US and internationally. I’ve spent time in almost every state on the East Coast and driven through the rest. I’ve visited seven different countries and lived in Asia for 17 months.
