Students will learn how to take better photographs of people. Class will begin with an introduction to portrait photography and brief image review. Students will learn 4 key components to taking great photographs of people - lighting, pose, location & composition. ***In order to get the most out of this class, students should have someone to photograph during class. Students will learn how to plan to photograph a person considering the lighting, personality, and final composition of the portraits.
I have worked as a portrait photographer for over 12 years and it is my favorite aspect of photography to teach. Past students enjoyed photographing their peers and models from the community in the studio and outdoors.
Homework Offered
Students are welcome to share any photos they take after class in the Outschool classroom but there is no formal homework for this introductory course.Assessments Offered
Students will have the opportunity to share their images with the teacher and the class.Grades Offered
Camera or phone/tablet with camera ***Person of any age to model for the student photographer during class
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
