Description
Class Experience
This class is taught in English.
-Children will use their own ideas to draw, paint, and build with a variety of art materials (e.g. paint, wood, materials from nature such as leaves). -Children begin to show growing awareness and use of artistic elements (e.g. line, shape, color, texture, form). -Children show growing satisfaction with their own creative work and growing respect for the creative work of others. -Children can talk about their art with peers and adults. -Children begin to develop creative arts vocabulary. -Children will develop a positive attitude about themselves as literate beings (readers, writers, speakers, viewers, and listeners), and recognize they can choose to read for enjoyment and information to expand their curiosity.
GENERAL MATERIALS NEEDED FOR ALL SESSIONS: -Mixed Media Paper, or any paper that can hold paint -Washable Tempera Paint (Colorations is a good washable brand) or Acrylic Paint (all/any colors your child would like to use) -Plate or pallet to hold the paints -Jar of water -Old towel or washcloth for drying materials -Pencil and eraser ADDITIONAL MATERIALS NEEDED EACH WEEK: Week of May 2nd -Medium sized action figure, Barbie doll, animal figure that can be dipped in paint. Week of May 9th -New (unused) pencil Week of May 16th -Craft store feathers Week of May 23rd -Paper towel or toilet paper tube Week of May 30th -Small toy car or truck and a small/medium sized dinosaur figure that can be dipped in paint.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
You may need to be present to gently guide your artist as needed. The projects are developmentally appropriate for ages 3-5, but help may be needed for spills and cleaning materials. Please remember Outschool’s policy requires parents to remain off camera during class. You will need to help your artist set up their creative space before the class begins. -Artists will need to wear clothing that can take some spills or sprays, or wear an apron. -Paints need to be ready on the pallet or plate. -Jar of water and washcloth ready.
