Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - 1
During this on-going Creative Movement class, we will learn to dance in a playful manner. Each week will include lots of silly songs that kids can relate to. Not only will they be having fun and playing, but they will also be fine-tuning their large motor skills without even realizing it. We also incorporate some smaller motor skills with props!

Week 1: We will begin with a silly song to warm-up our bodies then dance to songs that introduce our body parts.
Week 2: We will begin with a silly song to warm-up our bodies then dance to songs that work on balance in different positions.
Week 3: We will begin with a silly song to warm-up our bodies then play a game of "mirror image" where each child gets to be copied by the entire class!
Week 4: We will begin with a silly song to warm-up our bodies then, using a scarf prop, we will dance to different songs and talk about different movements, shapes, animals, and other things we can do with it!
Week 5: We will begin with a silly song to warm-up our bodies then we will learn how to use our bodies as instruments and how we can make different noises using our hands, feet, legs, arms. *NO instruments or props please*
Week 6: We will begin with a silly song to warm-up our bodies then we will dance to different songs and in different ways with an Animal Theme.
Week 7: We will begin with a silly song to warm-up our bodies then we will dance to different songs and in different ways with a Food Theme.
Week 8: We will begin with a silly song to warm-up our bodies then we will dance to different songs and in different ways with an Around the House theme.
Week 9: We will begin with a silly song to warm-up our bodies then we will dance with home made instruments. For example - a bowl as a drum with a spoon as drum sticks. We will work on counting to 8 like we do in dance/music.
Week 10: We will begin with a silly song to warm-up our bodies then we will dance to different songs and in different ways with a Transportation Theme.
Week 11: We will begin with a silly song to warm-up our bodies then each learner will bring a prop of choice and we will creatively dance with the props. We will each have a quick chance to do a "Show-and-tell" of our prop.

I teach Movement classes in studio and online as well! I have been teaching dance for 15+ years to all ages (18months - adult) as well as Fitness classes to kids and adults. Dance has been a major part of my life for 32 years and I love bringing that passion to others. I've worked with young and old, special needs, low-impact or injured, wheel-chair bound, and all others!

I believe that Dance/Movement is a rare "sport" that is all-inclusive; gross and fine motor skills, spatial awareness, emotionally stimulating, builds self-confidence, improves discipline & listening skills, and much more.

My family consists of my super supportive husband, my oldest daughter (8) youngest daughter (6), and then the littlest one is 3years old, but he was born 3-1/2 months early. We spent a significant amount of time in the NICU in the city we live in and are forever grateful for modern medicine! Our life has been a rollercoaster and, as crazy as this sounds, I wouldn't have it any other way... mostly. haha!

Being a mama myself, I try to be flexible with my schedule and appreciate the understanding from parents as I navigate our medically complex son's needs as well as two active girls!

I offer discounts to siblings, love to work with groups that want to dance together online, and I am always willing to work with you on group discounts, multi-class discounts, and one-on-one private lessons!

Please message me for more info on classes or to ask any questions!
