I have 3 years of experience teaching children. I have TEFL certificate and I love playing Minecraft! I've played Minecraft for over 10 years, allowing me to share my knowledge, tips and tricks in the game. I believe Minecraft is an excellent game to harness a range of learning practices, such as lifestyle skills, planning, critical thinking, problem solving and systems thinking. I will take part in the lesson by helping direct activities and overlooking the students.
2 files available upon enrollment▪️Minecraft Java Edition ▪️Mac or PC This class is for Minecraft Java Edition for: Mac or PC. A basic understanding of Minecraft is required for joining the server and playing alongside students. I will help with any potential technical issues. In order to access the server, each student will need to have purchased Minecraft Java Edition. At the beginning of the lesson, I will share the server address which will allow the student to access the world we will be using. The student will need a computer, keyboard, mouse, earphones and a webcam. If your computer cannot handle Zoom and Minecraft at the same time, I recommend using two devices, one for each application. For example: using a mobile phone for Zoom and a PC for Minecraft.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Minecraft contains very little violence, graphic or inappropriate content. There is no blood in the game, however players can hit/kill enemies or animals to survive. The graphics are very minimalistic. Students will be playing on an online private server hosted and moderated by the teacher. Whilst this is a private server, it is shared by other verified students from other classes. As this is a multiplayer server, students will be able to communicate via text messaging in the game. The server chat is regularly monitored and I, the teacher, am directly notified of any wrongdoings. Students who choose to disrupt the classroom or other learners will be removed from the server. Actions that are not acceptable includes but are not limited to: - Being unkind, abusive or disrupting - Bad language or cursing - Hacking In order to join the server, the teacher will require the student's gamer tag(s). The server is protected/gated and therefore access must be granted to join the worlds. If you would like to send me a student's gamer tag prior to class, please only do so via private messaging and not in the classroom page.
