In this 4-day Camp you will practice drawing different maps and places and use your imagination to represent your creative ideas. You will develop graphic as well as verbal communication skills.

Class experience

US Grade 2 - 5
- Practice graphic design communication skills and refine drawing skills.
- Learn concepts of scale, measurement, and the frame of reference for maps.
- Learn new terms and words and become more fluent and confident in talking about ideas.
- Explore the creative process of expressing imaginative ideas on paper

Some benefits of the class are:
- Topographical skills: Children are able to use directional labels such as north, south, east, and west
- Projective skills: Children are able to use their own position to determine a location and its relationship to other elements
- Euclidian skills: Children can accurately perceive spatial relationships such as those that are used on a paper map
I am a fully qualified teacher and through teaching English, German and French I foster a curiosity about different cultures and ways of life. I understand the challenges young learners face when trying to express what is in their mind and found that drawing and discussing ideas is an excellent technique to help children gain confidence in writing and speaking. I have taken many school classes to explore historical sites around London, the city where I live and work, and then map them to show what they have observed and learned. I am also a trained artist and storyteller and bring geography and cultural studies alive through images and narratives. In addition I have worked as a graphic web designer and taught visual communication to teenagers. My map making classes introduce graphic design skills to young learners.
