Class experience
US Grade 2 - 5
In this 4-class camp we draw a new imaginary map every day. Everyone has the opportunity to talk, think and draw. The term "maps" is used for diagrams that help us navigate the world and are beautiful and useful. I am a fully qualified teacher and through teaching English, German and French I foster a curiosity about different cultures and ways of life. I understand the challenges young learners face when trying to express what is in their mind and found that drawing and discussing ideas is an excellent technique to help children gain confidence in writing and speaking. I have taken many school classes to explore historical sites around London, the city where I live and work, and then map them to show what they have observed and learned. I am also a trained artist and storyteller and bring geography and cultural studies alive through images and narratives. In addition I have worked as a graphic web designer and taught visual communication to teenagers. My map making classes introduce graphic design skills to young learners.
