In this one-time course, students will practice 4 different lettering styles and a few basic doodles that they will use to create their own unique word collages for some spooky Halloween-themed art pieces! [Dot font, Monster font, Serif font, Swirl font] Through basic drills and instructor modeling, we will go over 4 different ways we can creatively write words or phrases. This course is designed for beginners in mind or for learners who want to learn new ways to jazz up their bullet journals, handlettering pieces, or notes and cards to family and friends. Each student will end the class with a magnificent new art piece to share and an understanding of different ways to make their art stand out to fit their style. *If your student excels working at their own pace or would like to take other word art courses, I offer a 6-week flexible schedule course that goes over the fonts and doodles learned in this class along with 5 other classes at a comparable discount.
Learning Goals
In this one-time course, students will:
- work together to brainstorm a list of Halloween-inspired words

Supply List
Students will need blank white sketchbook or computer paper, and writing utensils (pencil and something to add color - can be crayons, markers, colored pencils, watercolors, etc.) for this course. Lined paper is recommended to practice with. If students want more hands on practice, a free document will be available in the classroom prior to the class time that students may print out. This will allow them a chance to further practice writing the letters in each font style. (This is optional.)
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
Welcome! My name is Amber and one of my many life mottos is "never stop learning." I love learning (and teaching) a variety of subjects; usually focused around creating, mind/body awareness, and fitness!
I graduated from Concordia University WI in May of 2017 with a B.S. in Exercise Physiology. I currently work for my neighboring school district as a paraprofessional in many classrooms (ages 5-21). I also teach children with ASD communication development, behavior regulation, play, and daily living skills in their homes. In the summer months, you could find me coaching the summer track club for kids ages 7-14!
When I'm not teaching life skills, I love hanging out with my husband and our two dogs. Trying the latest new coffee shops and creating art are some of my favorite past times. I've been drawing and painting since I can remember and after taking AP Art in High School, I ended up starting my own art business focusing on home decor and wedding decor. I am excited to pass some art passion on to curious minds!
I help students in the public school setting, a recreational sport setting, in-home therapy setting, and now online! I look forward to getting to know your learner in my classes.
