Through basic drills and instructor modeling via weekly videos, students will learn how to write new fonts each week that they can use in upcoming weekly assignments.

Each Monday, a practice document will be uploaded if the student wants extra guided practice. They may also choose to practice their letters on basic lined paper. Students will work together each week to contribute 5 to 10 words to fit our theme that will be put on a master list for inspiration for our collages. We will also brainstorm different ideas for small doodles we could add to our pieces, 3-D elements we could add to our pieces, and colors we may use in our pieces. Note that in weeks 1 and 2, one additional assignment needs to be completed to help understand future assignments.

Completed weekly pieces are to be posted in the classroom by the Saturday of that week, so students can receive individual feedback from the instructor and their peers before the week is over. Students are required to leave a comment on (at least) one student's final piece, but are encouraged to interact with as many posts as time allows.

Each student will end the week with a magnificent new art piece to share and an understanding of different ways to make their art stand out to fit their style.

This course is designed for beginners in mind or for learners who want to learn new ways to jazz up their bullet journals, handlettering pieces, or notes and cards to family and friends. Students will learn new styles of writing and find ways to put their own spin on them.

*Flex classes do not meet live and are best suited for learners who want to work independently on their own time.

*For learners who want real-time video interaction, who find it difficult to work independently, or learners who will not be able to take photos of work and post them for my feedback, I recommend they check out my live lettering courses!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Welcome! My name is Amber and one of my many life mottos is "never stop learning." I love learning (and teaching) a variety of subjects; usually focused around creating, mind/body awareness, and fitness!

I graduated from Concordia University WI in May of 2017 with a B.S. in Exercise Physiology. I currently work for my neighboring school district as a paraprofessional in many classrooms (ages 5-21). I also teach children with ASD communication development, behavior regulation, play, and daily living skills in their homes. In the summer months, you could find me coaching the summer track club for kids ages 7-14!

When I'm not teaching life skills, I love hanging out with my husband and our two dogs. Trying the latest new coffee shops and creating art are some of my favorite past times. I've been drawing and painting since I can remember and after taking AP Art in High School, I ended up starting my own art business focusing on home decor and wedding decor. I am excited to pass some art passion on to curious minds!

I help students in the public school setting, a recreational sport setting, in-home therapy setting, and now online! I look forward to getting to know your learner in my classes.
