50 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
In this ongoing club learners will have fun socializing and making an art journal together as they learn art skills and build creative confidence. Skills discussed include drawing, painting, collage, and mixed media. Artists can use any and all art supplies on hand to create beautiful art each week based on our meeting theme. Each lesson is independent so learners are welcome to join at any time. Each meeting will include a new theme, a creative idea, images to use as inspiration (sometimes photographs and sometimes artwork), fun word games and discussions, and a chance to share their art. This is designed to encourage exploratory art. I will not be providing step by step instructions; rather each artist is encouraged to use their imagination and creativity to create art in a supportive club atmosphere. Teacher expertise and credentials
I love sharing my passion for Art, Literature and Writing. I teach hands-on classes that promote creative expression. I believe that art should not be a set “cookie-cutter” directions that lead to everyone’s project looking identical. I also think that art is important for all students because it fosters creativity and leads students to think “outside the box” and look for new solutions.
I have been teaching children in both formal and informal settings for over 30 years as a Mother, Substitute teacher, Girls Scout Leader, Camp Director and Homeschool Teacher. I currently teach Art, writing and Literature classes for homeschool students in addition to my Outschool classes. I always aspire to make my classes fun and engaging - so fun that the student doesn't even realize they are learning! I also feel it is important to offer classes that allow children to interact with and share ideas with their peers.
When I am not planning or teaching classes I like playing with my little dog, creating mixed media art and sewing quilts.
