Class Experience
Students will learn how to take interesting photographs of food. Class will begin with an introduction to food photography and brief image review. Students will learn 4 key components to taking great photographs of food - angle, crop, mood, and textures. They will photograph the same food throughout most of the class as they apply each new photography skill. Many students choose to get different foods from the kitchen when they have different ideas. Students will learn how to crop for impact, show steam and texture to take great photographs of different kinds of foods.
I joke that I began photographing weddings because of cookie tables and wedding cakes but that is where I began to learn how to photograph food. I found that many photography students in my studio enjoyed photographing popcorn, cupcakes, and coffee in classes.
Additional activity ideas will be provided after class for further practice but it is not required.
Camera or phone/tablet with camera Food of choice - can be any fruit, vegetable, meal, snack, or dessert
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will have the opportunity to share their images with the teacher and the class.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
