Welcome to our Earth Science program, an innovative and engaging program designed to ignite a passion for learning about our planet. This course uniquely blends Earth Science with an interdisciplinary approach, integrating language arts, creative arts, geography, and science, to provide a rich, multifaceted educational experience. Throughout this program, we embark on a weekly journey through the diverse and fascinating world of Earth Science. From the dynamic processes that sculpt our landscapes to the mysteries hidden beneath the Earth's crust, each week presents a new theme for exploration and discovery. Our methodology emphasizes hands-on, experiential learning, encouraging students to engage actively with the material. Each day is dedicated to a unique aspect, ensuring a deep and well-rounded understanding. ▶ Day 1: Fundamental Overview - We start with an introduction to the chosen Earth Science topic, laying the groundwork with basic concepts, definitions, and an overview of its significance and primary elements. ▶ Day 2: In-Depth Study of Specific Aspects - The focus shifts to a detailed exploration of the topic, where students will learn about various types, characteristics, and key features, providing a thorough understanding of the subject's diverse components. ▶ Day 3: Practical Implications and Case Studies - This session delves into the practical applications of the topic, examining its interactions with other elements of Earth Science and the environment. Real-world examples and case studies may be used to bring these concepts to life. ▶ Day 4: Virtual Field Trip - Each week will culminate in a virtual field trip, offering students an immersive and interactive experience related to the week's theme. Canva: We utilize Canva to create engaging presentations. These are shared exclusively through the teacher's Zoom screen share for students to view during class. No learner or parent accounts are required.
YouTube: Occasionally, we may use Zoom screen sharing to show short, educational YouTube videos that enrich our lessons. These videos will always be relevant to the current block theme (for example, a video of a volcanic eruption during our earth science block). We will remain within the Zoom classroom environment, and no learner or parent accounts are needed.
