Beginner Level
In this ongoing weekly class, students will be encouraged to exercise creativity as they draw! During the first part of the class, students will be guided to draw the beginning of a picture or the basic outline of a scene. Next, students will use their own ideas to fill in their drawing. I will give students examples and ask questions to spark original ideas! Students will be able to talk with each other and myself as they draw if they choose. Students will then share their drawings and admire the creativity of their classmates! Projects will include: -Fill-In-The-Blank Drawings For example: A drawing of a cute monster who is afraid. Students will imagine and draw what the monster is afraid of. Another example: Pirates have found buried treasure. Students will decide what is in their treasure chest. -Scenes For example: A map of an amusement park. Students will get to choose the theme of their amusement park and decorate each ride! Another example: What would your perfect getaway island look like? -Comic Strips We will read a few comic strips, design characters, and create our own comic strips! -And many more projects! This class is designed to be fun and to be an outlet for students' creativity. The focus will be on the creativity of a student's drawing rather than on how perfectly their project is drawn. The goal of the class is for students to have fun and feel proud of their ideas! This is an ongoing weekly class. Students will meet once a week. I understand that schedules get busy! It's no problem if a student needs to miss classes for a while, and then re-enroll later. My teaching style is to make students feel comfortable. Students will be encouraged but not forced to participate. I welcome parents to give information on students' learning styles and interests. Students are required to be respectful and kind to others. All students are welcome in this class! I would love to see your student in class! -Ms. Cristal Example Themes: Week 1: 5/3/24 Monsters (nice ones and funny ones) Week 2: 5/10/24 Design your own amusement park! Week 3: 5/17/24 Calvin and Hobbes inspired comics strips Week 4: 5/24/24 Pirates! What is inside the pirate chest?
Learning Goals

Student will also learn to brainstorm ideas and will strengthen their creativity by thinking of ways to complete each drawing.
Students may learn that a project that seems like a lot of work is not difficult if you break it down into parts. They will be encouraged to learn to appreciate the creativity of others and to give encouragement to others.
