Class Experience

Are you looking for creative ideas to help you fill up your sketchbook? In this weekly art club, I will start class by providing students with an art prompt. Some weeks there is just one prompt and other weeks you'll get two prompts to choose between. We will spend a few minutes discussing how the prompt might be interpreted and talk about some different ways you could complete it. We will then spend the rest of our time working independently to create whatever we can imagine to bring the prompt to life. At the end of class, those who feel comfortable will have the opportunity to share their artwork with everyone. This club offers some structure with a lot of artistic freedom. This will be perfect for students with wild creativity that overflows AND for students who might need inspiration because they sometimes get stuck trying to think of what to draw. You can work in any style that you feel comfortable with. All you have to do is try your best to complete the provided prompt. The only way to become a better artist is to keep creating and that's what we will be doing every week. Our goal is to be creative and have some fun along the way!

This will be an optional mixed media club. Students are welcome to use graphite, markers, ink pens, paint, or whatever else they choose. We'll chat throughout class while we work and learners don't have to remain muted unless they prefer it that way. I only ask that everyone is respectful and waits for their turn to share or speak so that no one is interrupting me or anyone else in class. I will also be completing my own art on a separate camera for everyone to see. Students of all skill levels are welcome! The challenges are completely open to interpretation, so they will be suitable for new artists as well as advanced artists. I will be creating my own drawing and students are also welcome to recreate mine if that's what they're more comfortable with. I'm also available to help students in anyway that they need. Learners will not be required to work on any of the prompts outside of scheduled class time, but they may find that they want to spend extra time on certain pieces that they really enjoy. Early finishers may work on any art of their choice after completing the prompt. My role in this club is to be a creative guide and moderator. My primary focus is to encourage fun, creativity, and positivity.
