Throughout the course, students will learn essential design principles and techniques using the popular graphic design platform, Canva. From designing their presentations to creating eye-catching posters, photo books, and videos - these lessons are specifically designed to challenge and inspire young designers. The teacher will guide students through each lesson, providing step-by-step instructions through videos to ensure their svarious a variety of exciting projects to choose from, students will have the chance to explore their passions and showcase their skills in a final project of their choice. In addition to developing their creativity and design skills, this Canva class will foster essential critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills, preparing them for future academic and professional pursuits. ➡️➡️➡️This is a FLEX class and there will be no live meetings. 📅 Class Schedule #1 - Let's Get Creative with Canva! - Introduction to Canva - Overview of templates, design elements, typography - Designing Eye-Catching Posters Homework: Students will create a poster #2 - Let's Party! 🥳 - Create Fun Birthday Invitations and Cards - Create Images for social media posts (students do not have or be active on social media) - Photobooks Homework: Students will create a photo book #3 - From Sketch to Story - Create Your Own Comic Book - Picture Book Homework: Students will create a comic or picture book #4 - Present Like a Boss - Design School Presentations, Infographics, and Reports Homework: Students will create an infographic #5 - Lights, Camera, Action! An Introduction to Video 🎥 - Introduction to the types of videos to create with Canva - Animated videos - Stories for Social Media (you do not have to have social media) Homework: Students will create a short 5-minute or less video #6 - Cut, Edit, and Share: Mastering Video Editing - Learn how to edit videos with Canva - Edit videos (add animation, audio, etc) Homework: Students will revise/update their project #7 - The Final Countdown: Showcasing Your Skills - Present a portfolio of designs created throughout the course in a final project.

Parental Guidance
Students will need to have their own Canva account (sign up for the free plan before the first day of class). Students will be encouraged to use their personal photos for their projects (such as in the photobooks), but this is not required.

We'll use Canva - of course. The teacher will record and upload videos to YouTube. A link to the unlisted video will be provided in the class. All documents, video links, etc. will be available on Google Drive for easy access and organization.
