This creative writing class will develop a young writer’s creative and imaginative skills. This six-week plan is designed to keep students writing at least five days a week, although students are encouraged to keep journals as well. This class is for young people who are a bit hesitant to write but want to develop their creative writing skills in a fun environment.
Special needs, struggling and reluctant writers are especially welcome to this class. They will find the assignments interesting and fun.

The writing assignments provoke thinking. The Bloom’s Taxonomy thinking chart was used to develop most of the writing prompts and the assignments were developed through proven composition . The flipped classroom model will be used with students commenting on one another’s assignments using the teacher-made creative writing rubric. The Socratic method will also be used to further develop young writers thinking skills. Each live class will review the assignments.
All enrolled students will be given a pdf with stories, activities and related links, including videos students will be able to view. The Google Classroom will be used to submit assignments, however, numerical grading (beyond pass/ fail per assignment) is optional as per parent request.

Each week students will be given brief daily writing assignments to be completed independently. Weekly, those assignments will be discussed. All writing assignments, videos and supplementary materials will be posted on the Outschool classroom wall.
