Creative Building in Minecraft *Java* for Beginners and Intermediate

In this student led class we will chose a random object from our building list and work on ways to improve our skills by building the object. Ex: if we chose a tree your learner can make a traditional tree or a pink, rock, or rainbow tree!

Description

Class Experience

I want a student to feel like they can accomplish hard things. Their creativity will increase as they see items from different perspectives. They will learn to look out side the box as they come up with new ways to build. They will gain confidence on their building skills. I want them to feel that they have improved no matter what building skill they think they are at. They will learn to show respect and appreciation for their peers as they lend suggestions to each other's work. I want class to work like a collaboration with peers, not a contest of who is a better, faster builder. I will not tolerate teasing, bullying, or pompous pride that a student feels they are better than another. I want students to feel proud of their work. I hope they feel proud at their peers work too. I want each student to understand that we are all at different levels of skill. I want a student to feel a sense of passion and accomplishment that they can do hard things and want to create more. I want them to enjoy practicing and gain an understanding that it will take practice, trial and error, and patience to get something right.
Homework is optional. Practice will help them improve. Remind your student it will take practice, patience and trial and error to get a build right. I encourage that the student try to recreate the object from the class in many different ways that they can. I encourage them to improve on some of those ideas. I encourage students to try to build with the block of the week. I hope they have fun coming up with different ways to use that block. I would love to see any of the students works or hear about what they have discovered.
I will need to know your student's gamer tag in order to add them to the server that we will be playing on. Just know that other players will see that name as well. I will need you to send me the name in a private message. I will keep their information private. Mojang is not affiliate. If you have questions or concerns please let me know.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
The way I notice how I've improved in Minecraft is looking back at past builds and seeing how my skills have gotten better. I would love to see any screenshots or pictures of builds the students have made that are outside of class.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
