Creative Building in Minecraft *Bedrock* for Beginners and Intermediate
What's included

30 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
This is a student led class: I have found a new passion about using Minecraft for a way to express my inner art and I want to share that with students who have enjoyed building and creating in Minecraft as well. I have an intermediate level of skill. Class Structure: This format will be the same each week -Each student will contribute one or two ideas on what they want to improve in building. These will be everyday objects for example: a chair, a flower, a wall, an animal, a room etc. -I will keep a running list on the objects students want to build. We will keep adding to this list as new students join the class. We will write the items on paper in a Minecraft fashion and put them in a dispenser to randomly chose the item for us to work on during class. -We will have about 20-30 mins to build the item. The time will depend on how many students are participating each week. -We will take the last 10-15 mins in class to share our creations. This will give each student a chance to respectfully critique each others work and give suggestions on improvement. I do look forward to having the students critique my work. I want the focus on class to be about improvement. How can they improve their skills. -If there is time left in class or if a student gets done early, I will have a block of the week that they can try to think of ways how to use that block in a build. For some examples: How would you use an anvil in a build besides a work table? How would you use composter in a build? Try to build with a wood you would normally not use. Ext. We would briefly talk about ideas if there is time.
Learning Goals
I want a student to feel like they can accomplish hard things. Their creativity will increase as they see items from different perspectives. They will learn to look out side the box as they come up with new ways to build. They will gain confidence on their building skills. I want them to feel that they have improved no matter what building skill they think they are at. They will learn to show respect and appreciation for their peers as they lend suggestions to each other's work. I want class to work like a collaboration with peers, not a contest of who is a better, faster builder. I will not tolerate teasing, bullying, or pompous pride that a student feels they are better than another. I want students to feel proud of their work. I hope they feel proud at their peers work too. I want each student to understand that we are all at different levels of skill. I want a student to feel a sense of passion and accomplishment that they can do hard things and want to create more. I want them to enjoy practicing and gain an understanding that it will take practice, trial and error, and patience to get something right.

I have taught ESL for 5 years on many platforms, not just to Chinese children, but for children all over the world. My main experience comes from teaching and volunteering 20 plus years to children in church classes, my community, and Boy Scouts of America settings.
I've taught children to sing, to play, to think, and helped them develop skills in their lives so they could become better adults and better humans in their communities.
I believe a child has a right to be protected and heard. I will show respect to them and I hope for the same from them. I want to do my best to bring out the best in children and let them know they are wanted and validated. They have wisdom beyond their years and we as adults need to stop and listen to them. They see things we can't see.
I'm excited to get to know your child in my classroom. I may be simple in teaching without to many bells and whistles but I've got heart, kindness, patience and a fun sense of play and humor to my personality. See you in the classroom.
