Let's explore yoga together. We will use yoga sun salutations and positive affirmations to guide our practice. This will encourage students to explore their creative selves. As a children's yoga instructor and certified teacher, I enjoy incorporating music and stories that create playfulness and community. Week 1: Journaling using creative writing prompts paired with postures to build strength Week 2: Vision board and mantra art to talk about creating your own Positive mantra I love to allow students to grow and contribute their own interests into the course. The course would start with a yoga practice and intention setting following by a discussion about the day's activity. Following the camp, students can share their experiences with family and friends as well as use these materials to continue their creative work.
Learning Goals
Students will learn breathing techniques as well as simple yoga exercises to practice at home. We will participate in several projects over the course of the two weeks that can be continued following the camp.

Hi I am Sam and I love to teach classes to support a student's love of learning and to build their confidence on and off the mat. I have experience creating a curriculum for reading comprehension & literacy so incorporate it into all my classes. For over ten years, I’ve taught yoga, creative writing, process art for stress relief and meditation, and creative storytimes. I have taught in after schools, camps, daycares, hospitals, and my own classroom.
I am certified in early childhood special education as well as a licensed yoga instructor ( RYT) . I have taken additional courses on exercise and the brain, neuroscience, STEM education in order to become a mindfulness teacher/coach. My undergraduate degree is in creative writing. I am also a children’s yoga with a trauma-informed focus through Yoga Ed.
I love to teach students ways to boost their joy as a learner, to be playful in their explorations, and to develop a love of learning using social-emotional learning techniques.
I believe in having fun in learning and focusing on student interests to catapult into deeper understanding.
I believe in the learning process and how students gain confidence in their abilities through patience, resilience practices, and playfulness.
