Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 6
Beginner - Intermediate Level
In this self-paced 6-week course, learners will explore how to create a successful YouTube channel from the ground up. Through a practical, creative, and engaging structure, students will learn the technical and strategic skills needed to launch, manage, and grow their own YouTube presence—focusing not only on content creation, but also the digital tools and confidence needed to succeed.

The course is broken down into three key areas: Building a YouTube Channel, Photography, and Video & Sound Editing. We'll begin by laying the foundation for a successful YouTube journey—helping students define their niche, build their brand, and plan content that stands out. We’ll cover choosing a channel name, understanding the importance of visuals, and learning what makes content engaging and watchable.

Students will then dive into photography and video production, learning how to compose strong shots, use lighting effectively, and film confidently—even with basic equipment. They’ll explore mobile photography and simple editing tools to improve image and video quality, while also developing an eye for detail and storytelling.

Next, we’ll focus on video editing, sound editing, and using music and effects to enhance final content. We’ll explore software options, practice audio recording and cleanup, and learn about copyright rules and music licensing. By the end of the course, learners will be able to produce polished content ready for their own channel.

Throughout, we’ll also discuss digital safety, online responsibility, and how to use YouTube as a platform for self-expression, learning, and even income. Students will discover how creators grow their audience, collaborate with others, and turn their interests into something meaningful—and potentially profitable.

This class is designed to help learners develop long-term digital and creative skills that go beyond just YouTube. Whether they’re aiming to entertain, teach, vlog, or review games, students will leave the class with tools they can use for years to come.

This class allows your learners to watch the pre-recorded videos and do them at a time that is FUN for them! You can also spend extra time on the topics your child is most interested in. Since this is a Self-Paced class with no live meetings, students can log in at a convenient time to complete the week's lesson.

The videos will contain the information required to give students a good understanding of each topic and each one will include homework for the students to undertake during the week, as part of a project.

After watching each video and completing the homework assignments, students will be provided with feedback and the specific next steps on how to improve or adapt.

Time frame for the Week:
Mondays – The teacher will post the information needed for the week. Students can submit questions.
Tuesdays - Wednesday – The teacher can answer any questions pertaining to the topic of the week. The students will need to complete any homework assignments and answer any questions in the discussion.
Thursday – Students need to have all tasks completed and uploaded in the classroom for teacher feedback and discussion.
Friday – The teacher will provide feedback to the class and individual students. Students will also be able to engage in peer-to-peer review and discuss how they went about completing the tasks.
Saturday - Sunday – The teacher will be available to answer any questions that the students may have for the week or the next week.

Please note:
Because of YouTube’s privacy and age requirements, I am able to guide learners through the process of creating a channel, but only a parent or guardian can legally create a YouTube account for minors. Clear instructions for setting up a channel are provided as part of the course.

This course requires no prior experience. All students need is a desire to learn and explore their creativity!

For parents/families who feel their child would benefit from this course, but their budget does not allow for it, I do offer a number of discounts for families of lower income. Please message me with the course, dates and times you are interested in to learn more about the discounts I might be able to offer.
