Learners can create a design and post it to the classroom if they would like feedback. This is completely optional.Class Experience
Have you wondered how to create beautiful cards, or posters, using Canva? Or perhaps you have a school project you need to work on and want to use something other than PowerPoint or Google Slides? If so, then this class is for you! In this introductory class, we will explore the basic components of Canva, a digital graphic design app. We will learn the different types of projects that can be created, and how to create one from scratch. We will explore the templates provided and learn how to personalize them to create a unique project. Learners will learn how to use the various tools, images, elements, and backgrounds to create their own unique design. Learners will be taught how to use Canva by following along with me as a screen-share the steps to create their project. They should have the Canva website on their own computer and re-create each step as we go through them in class. How in-depth we go into during class, will depend on the learner's abilities using their computer, and experience using Canva, or a similar graphic design program. Learners will need to sign up for a free Canva account prior to class, and have basic knowledge of how to screen-share on Zoom.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello there!
My name is Kathy and I have been a certified science teacher the last 20 years! My favorite classes to teach are any that have to do with the ocean, and its inhabitants. I have a degree in Marine Biology, am a certified SCUBA diver, have taught aquatic summer camps at a local aquarium, and have volunteered for multiple aquariums and rescue groups.
I also love to craft...in particular, to create things with my Cricut. I also have a degree in Fashion Design and love to sew. I look forward to adding classes that focus on each of these passions.
As a teacher, I often notice students lacking the technology skills needed to be successful in the classroom. I will also offer classes on how to use programs such as Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and a variety of other applications often used.
I really look forward to meeting you!
