There is not any assigned homework for this class... however, I ALWAYS encourage students to keep playing with their stories outside of class and keep writing as much as they want! :) And I often hear from parents that students do this with enthusiasm!Assessment
Students are assessed based on participation. This means showing up with openness and curiosity, being engaged in listening and answering questions as the main content is presented, being kind to their peers, participating in active writing time, and sharing their work when it feels appropriate / supportive for them. Our focus in this class is on creative ideas and getting those down onto paper in a magical and easy way!Class Experience
US Grade 3 - 6
This class is perfect for students who enjoyed the Writing MAGIC Creative Writing Class, or for anyone who loves writing creative stories. :) Join us each week for new creative writing prompts as well as tools and tips to help your stories and imagination soar! We'll begin each class with a short creative writing lesson to talk about a new tool or aspect of creative writing. (This could be how to write captivating descriptions, how to structure your story, how to get your ideas down, and other creative solutions or strategies for common challenges young writers face). Then we'll spend at least 20 minutes of active, engaged writing time with a creative writing prompt presented (I usually give at least a couple of fun options!) At the end, we'll have time for students to share their stories and get positive feedback, support and encouragement both from me, and from their classmates! In this class, I support students with believing in the power and magic of their ideas, and then help them get their ideas down on paper in a fun and easy way! If you have a student who enjoys creative writing, is always making up stories in their mind (or aloud), or who loves to read, this would be an amazing way to support them in expanding their creativity and growing in their writing skills!
