Class Experience

Students will experience collage as an art form used by famous artists and we'll talk about how artists use the arts as a means of self expression

Students will use magazines and cut images to create a collage of their own self expression. We'll work together finding images, cutting and glueing them.

Students will use pen, paint, ink to pull the collage together after it is assembled.

Students will title and explore the images and insinuations within their collage
I'm an Expressive Arts Therapist/Intermodal as well as an Expressive Arts Consultant and Educator. I've been a Teaching Artist in the schools for over 10 years and a spoken word poet. Currently, I am a homeschooling mama of 3 and a published author.

In this time where we all have a level of anxiety and uncertainty, it's important to give our children a means of self expression, a way to let it out, to make sense of what they feel, the arts area perfect place for this. Collage can be a wonderful medium for this as well because it is not intimidating as an art form, we've been doing it since we were very young!
glue stick or white glue scissors 2-3 magazines with pictures Markers (preferably sharpies b/c they work on most surfaces) Paper or cardboard to create the collage on paint and paintbrush is optional, I've always been a fan of using paint over my collages, but this is not necessary! *** If there are any images that you really want on your collage, you can print them up off the internet and bring them along!!
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
