Class Experience

Students will learn about why having a creative habit is so important for artists and how to begin to incorporate this into their lives. Students will be given an abundance of prompts and ideas to get them interested and motivated to work in their sketchbook.

Each session will concentrate on a journaling technique or a compilation of several small techniques. Students will practice this technique in their sketchbooks and begin to work on the "project" (sketchbook prompt) for the week. Students will self-assess their work and the class will critique each other's in-progress work as well as the completed assignment at the beginning of the the following week.

The class time is live with the instructor, and students will be encouraged to post their in-progress photos in the classroom throughout the week. Students will receive feedback from the teacher and their classmates on these posts in addition to the in-class feedback.

I am a fine artist and just like exercising, playing the piano, or playing a sport...practice is important! The most successful artists include creative daily habits into their lives. Often, these creative exercises lead to the creation of an artwork. In this course, I will help students to find inspiration for a regular sketchbook habit.
