Watching the Thanksgiving Day parade is a tradition in many homes. In this class, we will spend the first few minutes discussing the history of the parade and learning some fun facts about the floats. Then learners will have the opportunity to create their own miniature floats using a variety of materials. Materials can include boxes, balloons, straws, paper plates, string, paint, colored pencils...anything your learner desires to use! They should feel free to use their creativity! At the end of class, learners will share their creations and tell us about their floats. This class is designed to get students to use critical thinking skills as they create a float. They will need to choose materials that will help them achieve the shape and design of their float. They will have to figure out the shapes and sizes of the different pieces they will need. They may have to figure out how to balance some of the parts. It will take some trial and error, but in doing so they will learn how to bring an idea to life!
