For the first session of this course, students will listen to a read-aloud of the first four chapters of Junie B. Jones Is a Party Animal, participate in group discussion, and add pictures to a graphic organizer. I will pause after the first two chapters so the students can discuss how Junie B. and her friends decide to have their sleepover. The students will then brainstorm how they would invite friends to a sleepover. This step will be added to their spider map, graphic organizer, by...
Students will improve their sequencing skills. Students will practice finding details necessary to plan a successful sleepover. Students will learn how to communicate ideas using illustrations.
1 file available upon enrollmentStudents may want to follow along with the read-aloud using a personal copy of the book; however, this is not necessary since the students will also be brainstorming throughout the read-aloud. Students will need paper, pencil, and crayons to illustrate their graphic organizers. A spider map is attached for use during the lesson.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour 50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
