Whether you want to host a supper club in your home or dream of owning a restaurant, this course is jam-packed full of resources: we learn about management and planning, creating menus, cooking, food knowledge, design and decor, and more.
Class experience
Using a learning portfolio that I provide, students will document their ideas and inspiration and plan everything they need to create their own pop-up restaurant. We will share ideas as a whole group and in pairs, brainstorm together, and discuss protocols for each key aspect of planning your own restaurant. Students will learn: Basic cooking principles and tools Aspects of restaurant management The influence of atmosphere Themes, styles and serving methods Kitchen safety Sanitation methods Deconstructing and plating Transferrable skills: Organizing, planning, coordinating & matching, time management, communication
Students will be given a learning portfolio. They will be required to choose a simple recipe, like a sandwich that they are allowed to prepare for the purposes of experimenting with food presentation.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be reminded that permission is required from a parent or guardian if using equipment and tools in the kitchen.
