Welcome to our 4-week class on creating an Awesome ebook using Canva.com! In this class, you will learn how to use Canva to design and publish your own ebook, whether a novel, a cookbook, or a short story. Week 1: Getting Started with Canva Introduction to Canva.com and its features Creating a Canva account and navigating the interface Best practices for finding and/or creating an effective design Selecting a template for your ebook by exploring options Deciding your topic Review Ms. Kim's published Ebook Week 2: Designing Your Ebook Overview of design basics, such as text, elements, and other design features available on Canva. Customizing your ebook template Adding and formatting text, including headlines, body text, and captions Inserting and editing images and graphics; group items Creating an engaging cover and title page Designing consistent page layouts Week 3: Formatting and Editing Your Ebook (Our longest class) Add headings and format text within the margins Add a Table of Contents (if needed) Add a Copyright Page/All Rights Reserved Page Upload your own graphics/images Insert graphics/images onto pages Add an About Me or Author Page Week 4: Finalizing and Sharing Your Ebook Add Page Numbers Proofread the text formatting, margins, and pictures. Sharing Your Ebook (use the link, make it accessible) Make a copy of your ebook to add a series Learn to share your book on social media (if parent authorization) Throughout the class, you will have the opportunity to ask questions, receive feedback on your ebook design, and collaborate with your classmates. By the end of the course, you will have a completed ebook that you can be proud of, as well as the knowledge and skills to continue creating and publishing ebooks on your own.
Learning Goals
In this class, the student will learn how to use Canva.com to create and publish their own ebook. Over four weeks, they will learn how to navigate the Canva interface, customize templates, add and format text and images, set up page numbering and table of contents, export their ebook as a PDF, and publish it on various platforms. They will also learn marketing strategies for sharing their ebook, including creating social media graphics. By the end of the class, the student will have a completed ebook and the skills to continue creating and publishing ebooks on their own.
