This 8 week course helps students design a country, while looking at government, natural resources, people, history, art, and so much more!
Class experience
US Grade 4 - 7
In this course, students will work through creating a country. They will discuss and decide everything from the natural features of their island, to the language and history, to creating artwork, music, and a passport from their country. At the beginning of each class, I will introduce the topic for the first part of class. Students will then have about 20 minutes to work on the section. We will then switch to the next section, starting with a brief explanation and then more work time....
This course reviews British Columbia grade 4 standards of Social Studies, Art, Literacy, and Math. Students will learn the basics of government. Students will discuss natural resources, land forms, and animal habitats. Students will discuss population density, maps, education, transportation, food, sports, and other forms of recreation. Students will create a language, art pieces, book, post card, and a travel brochure. Students will develop a piece of music using music software. Students will interact with peers and learn to give and receive constructive feedback.
I am a grade 4/5 teacher in British Columbia. I created this course to provide a review for my students at the end of the year to go over many things we've learned throughout the year.
Homework Offered
Students will need to finish activities outside of class.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Students will receive regular feedback in class on their work. If needed, I can provide a written grade upon the completion of the course.Grades Offered
Students will be given a work packet with activities for each day. Students will need art supplies for various activities, paper, something to make a stamp with, and other assorted materials. I will post what sheets students will need printed for the next class as well as any extra materials 24 hours before class starts or at the beginning of the week for the week.
